For those interested, I made a little comic of some of my favourite dialogue written in my fic, Wings of Time. This was a nice scene that I think showcases Merlin and Arthur’s differences with how they deal with problems. When I’m writing, it’s almost as though I can hear them in my head, and I hope I portrayed that clearly here.

Look, I know this is a Drarry blog, and they will always be the OTP.

But lately I’ve gotten into Merlin/Arthur, specifically an amazing writer called horsecrazy. And I’m obsessed. The writing is superb and hits all my most favorite things: pining, angsty longing, smut that smuts so hard because it’s porn with feelings. Can’t say enough good stuff about this author. Thanks for the rec @aemelia

In my defense, these boys are pretty damn Drarry coded: a rich, posh blonde with an arsehole father who is often gay, and a dark and messy haired bisexual bloke, who in the series is extremely magically powerful. I know I can make anything Drarry coded, but this is not a stretch!

Twenty Seconds

“I thought you were going for a hug.” 

“Noooo.”

“Prat.”

Merlin threw his arms around him anyway and held on, and though Arthur wanted to protest being manhandled in a very un-princely way, Merlin’s arms were quite warm around him, and Merlin’s body, pressed all down his front, fit against him surprisingly nicely, and really, he couldn’t help it if his arms raised in reflex and wrapped around Merlin’s shoulders, holding on tightly. His nose was buried in Merlin’s hair, which smelled not too bad, honestly, given that he’d been on the run these past days. He could definitely get used to it. And then the hug went on longer than any hug had a right to, and Arthur found himself being properly held, right there in the castle halls in front of God and his father (somewhere several rooms away, but still!)

But the longer he was held, it suddenly seemed that the tension drained out of him, the frantic events of the last few days melting away at last, and finally, all was right with the world again. He tightened his arms around Merlin, trying to capture more of this feeling and trying not to think about the fact it was Merlin who’d given it to him. 

After a particularly draining battle, or an especially stressful meeting with the king, hugs became an important part of Merlin’s service to the crown prince from that day forward.
